Dear Friends,
The “good word” is out! Georgia Tech’s Homecoming and Reunion Weekend is November 7-9, 2024. This is a very special event for the Class of 1984 as we celebrate our 40th reunion. An important part of Tech’s Reunion tradition is the opportunity to mark the occasion by leaving a class footprint. In addition to our class party on Friday night, November 8th, our class gift will be an important part of our milestone reunion experience.
Our Reunion Committee has set a class goal of $10 million. This larger figure will include all gifts to Georgia Tech pledged during the reunion year: Roll Call and Alexander-Tharpe annual funds and/or A-T life memberships; specially designated gifts to your school or college; deferred gifts such as bequests, trusts, and retirement accounts; and the $2 billion capital campaign. Gifts of cash, stock, or real estate can be used to fulfill your pledge. All pledge commitments may be fulfilled over a period of five years. To date, we have raised more than $7.0 million. We appreciate gifts or pledges of any size as they bring us closer to reaching our goal.
I am excited to share that the Scholarship Sprint Challenge has been extended to December 31, 2024. This challenge is for new donors who support undergraduate scholarships for students with low or limited income. Outright gifts or pledges from $25,000 to $100,000 will be matched dollar for dollar by the Georgia Tech Foundation, up to $2 million. The sprint will ensure as much as $4 million is deployed immediately to provide critical support for incoming students in the Class of 2028 and beyond. Learn how you can participate or make a gift here.
Please join all committee members in “giving something back” to Georgia Tech in honor of our 40th Reunion. Please visit our class web page to make a gift or pledge today, http://www.reuniongiving.gatech.edu/40 or contact Stefanie Smith, Director of Development, Reunion Giving Program (phone: 470.219.3401, or e-mail: stefanie.smith@dev.gatech.edu) to answer any questions you may have.
Thank you for your support. I hope to see everyone at the 40th reunion on November 7-9 as the Jackets play the Miami Hurricanes.
Sincerely,
Jim Butterworth, ISyE ’84
