Dear Friends:

This year marks 40 years since our graduation from Georgia Tech! We have a great opportunity to commemorate the occasion by reconnecting with classmates and friends on Homecoming & Reunion Weekend, October 27 – 28, 2023. We hope you will make plans to join us at our Reunion Class party on Friday, October 27, as we present our gift to President Cabrera! Check back here for more details.

The 40th Reunion committee has been busy planning how we would like to acknowledge our class for this reunion. After reviewing many different options, we voted to support two projects to commemorate our anniversary:

  • A $100,000 Class of 1983 Need-Based Scholarship Endowment
  • A gift or pledge to the Athletic Director’s Initiative Fund

We have an incredible opportunity to make an impact by supporting these projects. A $100,000 need-based scholarship endowment will carry our class name in perpetuity. We also noticed that over 50% of our class has supported Athletics over the last few years. A gift to the Athletic Director’s Initiative Fund allows for gifts to be used at the discretion of the director of Athletics to address critical needs as they arise. To learn more about the projects, please click on the Make a Reunion Gift link.

For our 40th Reunion, we ask that you consider supporting our class projects in addition to your support for Roll Call and the A-T Fund. All gifts and pledges made this year to our class projects, Roll Call, the Alexander-Tharpe Fund, and special gifts to your school or college will also be included in the $2+ billion comprehensive campaign currently underway, Transforming Tomorrow: the Campaign for Georgia Tech. Pledge commitments may be fulfilled in installments within a five-year period, and gifts may include cash, stock, real estate, or an estate provision.

Please join us in giving back to Georgia Tech in honor of our 40th Reunion by supporting one or both class projects. To join us with your support, select Make a Reunion Gift, and select the one or both projects, Class of 1983 Need-Based Scholarship and/or Athletic Director’s Initiative Fund.

Please contact Stefanie Smith, director of Development for Reunion Giving, at 470.219.3401 or stefanie.smith@dev.gatech.edu with any questions about gifts, pledges, or estate gifts. In the meantime, I encourage you to create a page in our online class book or share memories if you already have a page. So many of our classmates have already begun sharing photos from their time at the Institute. To view these memories or share your own, click on Class Book link above or type https://gatech.brightcrowd.com/1983 in your web browser.

Thank you for your support. Go Jackets!
